    Project Description    
This project would protect 65 acres on the Entiat River at approximately River Mile 20.2-20.7. About half of the property lies west of entiat River Road and includes both sides of three bends and a long run of the river. The project would protect approximately 2,020 feet of the river on both sides, for a total of 4,040 feet, plus associated floodplain and wetlands.

This is a Category 1 watershed, identified as critical habitat for spring chinook salmon, steehead and bull trout. The RTT has identified the Stillwater Reach, RM 16-26 as "large pristine areas would be the highest priority" with Tier 1 priority. The January 2009 Entiat Tributary Assessment concluded that this reach (2C) has "high relative channel complexity" in an unconfined active floodplain. This particular property has considerable large woody debris.

The property is zoned for 10 acre lots, and the owners have brought utilities and dug a well, but have decided that they are not able to live there, and are motivated to sell. Acquisition will protect this pristine area from the negative effects of residential development including sedimentation, bank armoring, removal of LWD, removal of riparian vegetatio This property provides a critical link to surrounding property owned by the US Forest Service. It also adds to the corridor of protected land in the Entiat Stillwaters funded by the SRFB grants to CDLT in 2000 and 2001 (Proj. Nos. 00-1699 and 01-1213), and supports the habitat restoration efforts of many other groups actively working in the Entiat.
