The goal of the Wallace-May CE Acquisition project is to acquire a conservation easement over 80 acres consisting of riparian habitat on the Wallace River, just north of May Creek, for the preservation of high quality fish habitat, and for the prevention of residential and commercial development of the property. The Wallace-May property is located just northwest of the Gold Bar city limits, and directly upstream from the Wallace River Fish Hatchery. This conservation easement will allow for future salmon habitat restoration on the property to include clearing of significant invasive blackberry and planting of conifers and other salmon-friendly vegetation. In the alternative, the landowner may be willing to complete a boundary line adjustment and sell the portion of the property in fee with the most critical areas.
