    Project Description
Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) will permanently protect 10.7 acres of riparian and wetland habitat along lower Grovers Creek and Miller Bay in north Kitsap County through fee-simple acquisition. The Lower Grovers Creek Habitat Protection Project includes the acquisition of two individual properties encompassing 680 feet of main-stem Grovers Creek and 1,580 feet of tributaries, as well as the demolition and removal of a residential structure and control of invasive plant species. Grovers Creek and Miller Bay are critical stream and estuary habitat for numerous species of anadromous fish including Endangered Species Act listed steelhead, coho, chum, fall chinook (hatchery returns), and cutthroat trout. The Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project has prioritized the Grovers Creek Watershed as a "Protect High" watershed under its Coastal Inlet Strategy. RCO Waiver of Retroactivity #18-53.
