Salmonberry Creek Outlet Stream Restoration Design

This project will design and permit a stream restoration project across two private properties spanning the downstream-most 750 feet of Salmonberry Creek to the outlet to Long Lake. The site provides an important transition zone for adult salmon migrating upstream and juvenile salmon seeking rearing habitat near the lake shore (Suquamish Tribe 2017). The project goal is to improve juvenile salmonid habitat at the outlet of salmonberry creek. The project will create a conceptual, preliminary and construction-ready final design for the project, and secure permits. The design will incorporate large wood installation and riparian enhancement to create improved sheltering and foraging habitat for juvenile salmonids. The two landowners are excited to improve salmon habitat on their properties, and have already been working on riparian invasive weed control.
