This project will correct a partial barrier to fish passage (due to water depth). At the moment there are three partial fish passage barrier culverts downstream of this location but progress is being made on all of these projects by varying proponents. Soon this project will become the most downstream barrier to fish at multiple life stages on the main stem of Springbrook creek. Upstream of this project site there exists 0.63 miles of accessible, high quality rearing habitat with intact riparian conditions. Through local monitoring the city has observed that the instream, aquatic habitat experiences consistent, cool, oxygenated stream flow offering important refugia habitat for juvenile salmon.
